JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Armada FC U-23 squad announced Thursday that it will host open tryouts for its 2017 NPSL season at Patton Park on Saturday, Jan. 21 and Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017.
Registration is limited to 150 and interested players are encouraged to register early. If spots remain still available upon the day of tryouts, walk-up registration will take place for one hour on Saturday, Jan. 21 starting at 8 a.m.

Tryouts are $100 (not including additional payment processing fee). Players trying out will need to bring soccer-specific shoes, shin guards, wear black socks, and black shorts. Transportation and lodgings are at the player’s expense. The Armada will provide a jersey for players to use and keep.
Armada FC U-23, led by first team assistant coach Pat Cannon, finished its 2016 season in second place in the Sunshine Conference with a respectable 5W-2L-3D record.
"After a very good first season, I'm excited to continue to build on the foundation that was built,” said Cannon. “I want to bring in players that have aspirations of playing at the next level, but also fit the characteristics of what a first team Armada player has. It's a very exciting time to be a part of this organization.”

U-23 goalkeeper Kyle Nasta became the first-ever signing from within the club development pyramid when he signed with the first team on Sept. 9. Armada forward Derek Gebhard, also a former Jacksonville United product recently signed a contract extension with the first team on Oct. 5.
