Bolles honors Chipper Jones & Don Suriano

The former Bulldogs had their jersey numbers retired in a ceremony Friday night

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Joined at the hip as player and coach, Chipper Jones and Don Suriano both had their jersey numbers retired at the Bolles School in a ceremony Friday night.

"We have been connected for so long," said Suriano. "It was only right that Bolles would have us both back at the same time to do this."

A player at Bolles from 1988-1990, Jones returned to the school that he lived at for 3 years, and was the Florida player of the year in 1989.

"It's great to come back and see some of the old coaches, old teachers, the old teammates I used to have here at Bolles.  It's kind of an emotional night." said Jones.

His coach Suriano says that having days like this is why he coaches in the first place.

"Hopefully over the course of time, you will have a chance to see your ex-players and that's what happened tonight.  It was a great showing and I'm so happy."

After the ceremony, the Bulldogs beat rival Bishop Kenny 11-7.
