Div. III hoops player scores 109, still short of his own record

Player scores 109 in single game

Another day, another 100-plus point effort from Grinnell College's Jack Taylor.

The Division III player turned overnight superstar made history again Sunday, with a 109 point effort against Crossroads College.

Standing 5-foot-10, the Grinnell guard is soaring over competition this season, already averaging 90 points per game. He scored 71 in Friday's opener against Finlandia, and last night he dropped 109, shooting 24-for-48 on 3-pointers in a 173-123 win over Crossroads College. He had 53 within the first nine minutes of the second half. But this isn't his first rodeo.

The guard from Black River Falls, Wisconsin, set an NCAA record for any level by scoring 138 points last November, 20 in a 179-104 win over Faith Baptist Bible College.

The only other player to score more than 109 in an NCAA game was Rio Grande's Clarence "Bevo" Francis, who had 113 against Hillsdale in 1954.
