JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Quarterback Mason Mills threw three touchdown passes and the San Diego defense stifled Jacksonville University for a 24-7 Pioneer Football League at D. B. Milne Field here Saturday.
The win snapped the Dolphins' FCS best 16-game home win streak that stretched back to 2009. The home loss was only the fifth in coach Kerwin Bell's six years at JU.

Mills' touchdown passes propelled the Toreros (4-3, 3-1) to a 21-0 lead and the USD defense didn't allow the JU offense past midfield until the third quarter.
The first strike from Mills was a 39-yarder to tight end Kyle Lokanc with 6:12 to go in the first quarter which ended a seven-play, 75-yard drive.
In the second quarter, Mills found junior wide receiver Sam Hoekstra on a 26-yard pass for a 14-0 lead and fullback Lawrence Larivee was the recipient of a 34-yard scoring toss with 8:52 to go in the third. Mills ended the game going 15-for-29 for 217 yards and one interception.
The Dolphins, (6-2, 4-1) suffered a blow on the second play of the second series when quarterback Kade Bell went down with a knee injury. His replacement, sophomore Trevius Folston, completed 23 of 44 passes for 186 yards. Folston and tight end Andy Robustelli teamed on a 30-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter for the sole JU score.
"That doesn't happen too often around here, but we got it handed to us,'' Kerwin Bell said. "For Kade to go down really hit us in the stomach and we didn't do a good job overcoming that. We've got to make a three-game run to finish and if we do that we'll be in the championship race.''
San Diego's Fred Obi led the defensive charge with 10 tackles and JU safety Jordan Dewhirst had a like number for his team. JU punter Kody Thomas punted nine times and averaged a healthy 38.1 yards with the kicks.
JU has a bye next week before traveling to Butler while San Diego looks to extend its 10-game home win streak against Dayton.
