The Jaguars confirmed shortly after 5:30 p.m. via Twitter that Fowler tore his ACL.

Fowler's injury is to the left knee and happened with very little contact.

Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said he didn't see the injury happen on the field.

"Any time a guy gets injured, it's not a pleasant thing. It's not a good thing, because it can set them back a couple days, a week," Bradley said. "They're just evaluating him now. We'll find out more tonight."

Fowler did not return to practice after being treated off field in the trainers' tent.

Bradley admitted that an injury so early for Fowler is not great for player morale.

"It deflates you a little bit. It's unfortunate," Bradley said. "But then you move on. You keep going."

Fowler was expected to be a starter at the Leo position next season.
