Good things come to those who wait and that was definitely the case for Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the 56th running of the Daytona 500.
Drivers raced 37 laps, but heavy rain forced NASCAR to drop the red flag around 2:00 PM. The delay lasted more than 6 hours before drivers returned to the track around 8:30.
This is Earnhardt Jr.'s second career victory in the Daytona 500, his first since 2004. His victory on Sunday night snapped a 55-race winless streak dating back to 2012.
Earnhardt Jr. told his radio crew "this is better than the first one".
