Bolles crushed in championship game

Worst playoff loss for Coach Corky Rogers at Bolles

ORLANDO, Fla. – Booker T. Washington (Miami) dominated Bolles in Orlando 35-7 Saturday night to win the Class 4A state championship game.

For the second straight year Bolles trailed by 13, but this time there would be no comeback.

The Bulldogs scored just before the end of the first half to cut the margin to 13-7.  They would not score again.

Washington put the game away in a two minute span in the third quarter when Washington quarterback Treon Harris threw a touchdown pass to Karim Bryant.

On Bolles' ensuing possession, quarterback Colby Peters and running back Dexter Carter, Jr. ran into each other, resulting in a fumble. Peters fell on the ball in the end zone for a safety. Three plays later Harris ran six yards for the Washington touchdown and it was 28-7.

Bolles finishes the season 12-2. It is the worst playoff loss for Corky Rogers in his 24 years at Bolles and just the second loss in a state title game for the Hall of Fame coach.
