JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Several of our local schools have advanced past the second round of the high school football playoffs.
Florida:
Class 7A:
Robert E. Lee: Generals quarterback Derek Jones highlighted a dominant run game that Columbia had no answer for. Lee rolled to a 43-7 win and will host Bartram Trail next Friday in the regional final.
Bartram Trail: The Bears defense posted a shut out (27-0) against Gainesville Buchholz . They’ll need a similar performance as they travel to the Backyard next Friday against Lee.
Class 6A:
St. Augustine: The Yellow Jackets dominated on both sides of the ball during their 41-14 win over Crestview. Offensively St. Augustine racked up 395 yards of total offense. On defense they forced six turnovers and held Crestview to a season low 14 points. Next up for the Yellow Jackets is a home game in the regional finals against Navarre.
Class 5A:
Ponte Vedra: Ribault gave Ponte Vedra all it could handle in the regional semifinals. The Sharks kept their undefeated season going by winning 35-32. Next week Ponte Vedra will host Rickards in the regional finals.
Clay: The Blue Devils led Baker County 35-0 at the half, before going on to win 42-14. Next week Clay is on the road at River Ridge in the regional finals.
Class 4A:
Bolles: There was no shortage of scoring between Bolles and Raines. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 30-0 lead and the Vikings responded with 20 straight, to make the score 30-20 Bolles. From there the Bulldogs pulled away for good, winning 60-20. They will host South Sumter in the state semifinals next Friday.
Class 3A:
Trinity Christian: The Conquerors had no problem beating Florida High 38-7. Next Friday, Trinity will host Tampa Berkley Prep in the state semifinals.
Class 2A:
University Christian: The Christians improved to 6-0 at home with their 32-14 win over North East Florida Christian. Next week University Christian will be on the road at Lakeland Victory, in the state semifinals.
Georgia:
Class 3A:
Pierce County: The Bears advanced to the quarterfinals with a 49-27 win over Bremen. Next up for Pierce County is road game at Crisp County.
Class 5A:
Ware County: On Friday night the Gators beat Loganville 35-19. Next week Ware County is at Rome in the quarterfinals.
Class 6A:
Glynn Academy: The Terrors eased past Allatoona 47-7 on Friday night. Next, they will host Northside next Friday in the quarterfinals.
