FSU tops Florida at the Baseball Grounds

Season series tied 1-1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida State beat Florida 8-3 at the Baseball Grounds Tuesday night in front of 8,306 fans.

The win snapped a five game losing streak for the Seminoles against the Gators.

Gators coach Kevin O'Sullivan says it was just the Seminoles night.

"Credit Florida State, they played really well tonight. I thought (Bryant) Holtmann did a nice job in a starting role and we had a good plan against him", O'Sullivan said. "He executed a lot of pitches and did a really nice job and then they went with (Dylan) Silva. We had a chance in the sixth with first and second and nobody out and we had our 3-4-5 hitters coming up and I think he got to a 3-1 count with (Harrison) Bader and induced a fly ball and then he did a nice job. The bottom line is they played better than we did tonight and we have some work to do to get better. Credit their hitters, they did a nice job and battled at the plate; we've been on the other side of that too plenty of times."

Former Bolles standout D.J. Stewart had an rbi double and a sacrifice fly to drive in two runs for FSU. John Sansone was 4-4 with an rbi and two runs scored.

Holtmann and Silva combined to hold the Gators to six hits and three earned runs while striking out eight.

FSU and Florida will meet in Tallahassee April 14 to decide the season series.
