Gators coach Jim McElwain in town

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Gators football coach Jim McElwain was in town tonight on his spring speaking tour.

It's been great to get out and talk to the fans," McElwain said. "That's what makes Florida such a special place, the fans are passionate and it's a lot of fun."

McElwain gets a lot of questions about win totals and offensive line play but he says he has come up with one solution to quiet the crowds.

"I have one general comment before I ever take a question. I'll answer any question as long it's not a stupid question. That usually silences the audience pretty quick."

McElwain knew of the fans passion when took the job and now it's about trying to get the results on the field to match that passion.

"It's not about getting a participation ribbon. It's about going out and trying to win and that's what we are going to try to do."

McElwain and the Gators get their first chance at a win September 5 vs. New Mexico State.
