Gators continue win streak against Seminoles

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Freshman pitcher Garrett Milchin made his first career start for the Florida Gators against their rivals from Florida State. The Gators made sure he had plenty of run support, before he even stepped foot on the mound

In the top of the 1st inning the Gators sent eight batters to the plate. Deacon Liput worked a 3-2 walk to lead off the game. Two batters later JJ Schwarz singled home Liput for the first run of the game. Then for the second consecutive season, Mike Rivera homered in his first plate appearance at the baseball grounds to extend the lead to 4-0.

After a lead-off single Milchin had no problem settling in for the Gators. He retired his next six batters and only surrendered two hits in his 4 and a third innings of shutout work.

Fleming Island High School Product, Rhett Aplin got the Noles on the board with a one out single to score Quincy Nieporte in the sixth inning. The RBI single by Aplin ended a 36 inning scoring drought for FSU against Florida.

The Gators are now 2-0 against the Seminoles this season. They will wrap up their 3 game season series on April 11th in Tallahassee.
