JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jon Fox, Duval County Public Schools' district athletic director, will join a group of 12 distinguished individuals selected for induction into the Florida High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Fox will be inducted in the Class of 2012 alongside headliners like Larry "Chipper" Jones, Atlanta Braves baseball star. The 2012 induction ceremony will take place April 29 at 7 p.m. at the Best Western Gateway Grand in Gainesville.

Fox lettered in basketball and baseball at Burney High School in Indiana. He began coaching after his graduation from Ball State University in 1974. After 25 years of coaching, eight as coach and athletic director of Mandarin High School, he took his place as the district athletic director for DCPS in 2000. Fox spearheaded fundraising efforts to restore 12 sports programs that were scheduled to be cut for the 2011-12 school year.
Fox is responsible for weekly site visits to assure student-athletes have appropriate documentation to participate in athletics. Currently, he is helping to develop and coordinate the Save Our Sports Foundation. In 2011, the Florida Athletic Coaches Association awarded him the Life Membership Award and the Professional Service Award.
This year's class is the 22nd group to be inducted into the Florida High School Athletic Hall of Fame, which keeps alive the tradition and spirit of high school athletics, honoring individuals who have excelled in one or more high school programs. Fox will also be accompanied by Daniel Tharpe, Margaret Busbee, Eddie Shannon, Prince Pollard, David Walker, John David Jones, Michael Hoctor, H. Edward Feely, Cindy Boulware and William "Billy" Livings.
The 12 inductees bring the total number of Florida High School Athletic Hall of Famers to 156. Two separate committees evaluated the nominations and selected the 12 individuals.
