JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University will not renew the contract of head baseball coach Tim Montez, director of athletics Alex Ricker-Gilbert announced Friday.
"We are very appreciative of Coach Montez's contributions to our program and the University,'' Ricker-Gilbert said. "He put the program back on steady ground and for that we are very grateful. The program has showed improvement on the field and our student-athletes have performed well in the classroom."

Montez, who has been at the school since 2006, recently completed his third season as head coach and had an 80-85 overall record. The team went 33-22 this past season.
"I love what I do and it has always been about the players," said Montez. "JU is a special place."
Chris Hayes, Jacksonville's top assistant, will serve as the acting head coach until a permanent head coach is named.
