Five keys to victory for Jags vs. Bucs

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Five keys to victory for the Jaguars as they take on Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers:

Finish Drives:

Finish. That has been the single most important word for the Jaguars offense this week. Over the course of the first four games the offense has shown the ability to move the ball between the 30-yard-lines. Their record would be better than 1-3 if they performed better inside the red-zone. Lack of execution and careless penalties are a big reason why the Jaguars rank 28th in the NFL in red zone efficiency. When they get into scoring distance against the Bucs they have to put the ball in the end zone, not settle for field goal attempts.

Score after half-time:

The Jaguars have scored a total of 17 points in the second half of games this season. To make matters even worse that number would be down to 3, had it not been for two later touchdowns in the blowout loss to New England. It's hard to win games when your offense isn't performing during the third and fourth quarters.

Take advantage of Winston's youth:

We all know that Jameis Winston has the tools to be a good quarterback in the NFL. Like most rookie quarterbacks, he's shown a tendency to turn the ball over. Winston has thrown seven interceptions in the Bucs first four games. Through that same span of games the Jaguars have managed only one INT. Only New Orleans, Seattle and Washington are worse.

Contain Mike Evans:

Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans is still working his way back from a preseason hamstring injury. Through four games he has only 10 catches for 133 yards and no touchdowns. At 6'5", 225 pounds he's especially dangerous in the red-zone. Last year Evans hauled in 12 touchdowns, many coming on "jump balls." Evans is great at using his size and athleticism to win contested throws.

McCoy vs. Wisniewski:

Gerald McMCoy is a terror along the interior of the defensive line. He's one of three defensive tackles to record three or more sacks this season. Jaguars center Stefen Wisniewski will see a lot of No. 93 on Sunday. Wisniewski has yet to allow a sack this season but will face a tough challenge in McCoy.
