Jaguars: 'Wait 'til next year'

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars cleared out their lockers Monday morning and heard from Coach Gus Bradley before leaving for the offseason.

Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne (free agent) said Bradley remained consistent in his exit interview with the team.

"It was pretty much consistent with our whole approach all year," Henne said. "Getting better, just our philosophy in this organization. It's all about competition. It's the same thing he's said since day one which is consistent and what you want to hear at the end."

Jaguars defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks, who just signed a four-year extension, thinks the defense is on the path to something special.

"That's going to be a big key this off season," Marks said. "Knowing exactly where we build and knowing where we're going with our defense."

Jaguars defensive lineman Tyson Alualu agreed.

"I think everybody is understanding of what the coaches are expecting and what we need to do to win," he said.

That's the key: Getting  better will satisfy fans for only so long. Winning has to be the goal next year. Jaguars linebacker Paul Posluszny understands the fans.

"We know that we can be so much better." Posluszny said. "We are on the right path. Going into next season we will have high hopes and expectations."

The Jaguars also have to make key decisions about retaining free agents on their team. Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew and Henne are the two biggest names headed into the offseason.

Jones-Drew says he wants to come back but only if the price is right.

"It's a monetary issue," he said. "That's where we are now. It's not about football any more. That's part of the game. Hopefully it gets done quick and I'll be here, that's the best."

Henne insists he wants to be back with the team.

"I really enjoy this culture," Henne said. "I told Gus  this morning it was one of the most memorable seasons for me. The outcome wasn't what we wanted only winning 4 games but the second half  of the season we did get better. I want to build on it. If I have the opportunity to be back it would be a good fit."
