Jax Beach's Lingmerth on 1st PGA win

David Lingmerth got his first ever PGA Tour victory last week at The Memorial.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – When you have had 67 starts on the PGA Tour without a win, you get a little hungry for victory.

Now that Jacksonville Beach resident David Lingmerth has his first win on tour, he is hungry for more.  "Now I know I can win," said the 27-year old from Sweeden.  "It's a good feeling and I'm really proud of what I did out there last week.  It's a feeling I really want to come back to again."

Lingmerth bested Justin Rose on the 3rd hole of a sudden death playoff last week at The Memorial.  With the win, Lingmerth got a check for $1.12 million and more importantly, a 3-year PGA Tour exemption.  However, one tournament that Lingmerth will not be playing this year is the U.S. Open.  With his limited status for this season, Lingmerth had to play in a qualifier on the Monday after his win at Muirfield Village.

"I was pretty beat, especially after about two hours of sleep the night before having to play 36 holes," said Lingmerth.

Lingmerth said that instead of playing at Chambers Bay in two weeks, he will welcome the time off and regroup for the Travelers at the end of the month.  Most of that time will be spent right here in Jacksonville Beach, where Lingmerth has decided to make his home.

"My friend Jonas Blixt lives in the area and with TPC Sawgrass here to practice, I decided to make this my starting point.  After a while I realized I liked here and decided to stay."
