Manhunt underway for car thief

JSO: Suspect allegedly stole car, rammed vehicles, then fled scene

JACKSONVILLE Fla. – Police are looking man, after he allegedly tried to ram a police cruiser with a stolen car on the Northside.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said there was a car theft Tuesday evening in the Arlington area at a corner store.

Stephan Martin, the owner of the stolen vehicle said he filed police report after his car was stolen. Martin said he started searching for his vehicle on Wednesday morning and spotted his SUV later that day on Lem Turner and immediately notified police.

Martin then followed the vehicle until police arrived on scene.

JSO said the stolen vehicle then entered the Island Point Apartments on the Northside. After the suspect saw police officers following him, he allegedly rammed a police car and several other cars in the area.

The suspect then turned the vehicle around to leave the apartment complex and crashed the stolen SUV. The suspect then fled into the woods and the passenger in the vehicle is in police custody.

As of early Thursday morning, the driver was still at large.
