FWC completes investigation into crash that killed Marlins pitcher, 2 others

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials have released their final report into the boating crash that killed late Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez.

Fernandez has been listed as the operator of the boat.

The ace, along with Emilio Macias and Eduardo Rivero, were killed in the Sept. 25, 2016, crash in Miami Beach.

Autopsies completed by the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's office determined blunt force trauma and drowning were the causes of death for all three victims.

Macias' and Rivero's families have since filed death lawsuits. Both seek $2 million.
