What to expect on National Signing Day 2015

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The first Wednesday of February is here, and for high school athletes, that means National Signing Day.

Over the years, NSD has become quite the spectacle. TV networks devote endless hours of programming to covering high school athletes making their college decisions. And in northeast Florida, no decision is bigger than the one of Baker County's CeCe Jefferson. The five-star defensive end has narrowed his list to Florida, Ole Miss, Alabama and Auburn. He'll make his announcement from his home at 2 p.m. today.

Some student athletes are already on campus, including DeAndre Johnson. The First Coast quarterback committed to Florida State and moved to Tallahassee for the spring semester.

This will also be Jim McElwain's first signing day as head coach of the Florida Gators. McElwain got some good news Monday when four-star running back Jordan Scarlett out of St. Thomas Aquinas chose Florida over Florida State and Miami.

News4Jax will be at 14 high schools on the First Coast, as athletes put pen to paper and announce their college plans. You can interact with News4Jax on Twitter by using the hashtag #N4JSD or you can email us photos and updates at sports@wjxt.com.
