Jaguars release LB Russell Allen

Allen started 44 games in 5 seasons in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Originally signed as an undrafted rookie, the Jaguars have released LB Russell Allen and 3 others Thursday afternoon.

Allen, who was originally signed as an undrafted rookie on Apr. 26, 2010, played in 78 games with 44 starts for the Jaguars in five seasons. Allen saw action in the first 14 games (with 13 starts) of the 2013 season before being placed on injured reserve with a concussion, which he suffered in Week 15 vs. Buffalo.

Reports say that Allen recently failed a physical due to concussion issues, leading to his release from the team.

Third-year DE D'Aundre Reed, second-year DE Will Pericak and first-year WR Jabin Sambrano were also waived.
