Jaguars fans, former players excited about Bradley

New coach's wife says she's confident he'll succeed

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jaguars managers are excited about their new head coach, Gus Bradley, and for the most part, so are Jacksonville's fans.

"He has a great energy level, and hopefully we'll be in the playoffs next year," Jaguars fan JR Minter said.

"Just trusting that Mr. (Shad) Khan knows what he's doing," fan Bob Nelson said. "He's hired a good general manager, and we just have to trust that the system will work."

Some fans, though, are concerned, considering Jacksonville will be the former Seattle defensive coordinator's first head coaching gig.

"I think they should have went with somebody that had a little more head coach experience," fan Jeff Godbold said. "As far as I know, he's only got five years experience, and I wish they went a different route."

But Bradley's wife, Michaela Bradley, says there's nothing to fear and she has great confidence in him. She says she can't wait for her family to make a difference on and off the field.

"When he talks about passion, he truly means it. His philosophy, he stands behind it," she said. "I do believe he's going to do everything he can to make this a go."

Bradley and his wife will bring their four children with the to Jacksonville, a move former Jaguars players believe will be worthwhile.

"I think the community will like him," former Jaguars quarterback Mark Brunell said. "He's got a great personality, he's a family man, and he will be very much involved in things going on in this city. And that's a staple of the early years."

"He gets me excited, and I think if he gets me excited, I think he'll get the fans and the players -- and that's the most important thing -- get the players excited," former Jaguars linebacker Jeff Lageman said.

A lot of people are excited about the new head coach, and he's happy to be here.

"I'm excited about the opportunity, and let's see where it goes, let's see where it goes," Bradley said.
