Marquise Lee healthy, thanks to change in offseason workout

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Last season Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson made the argument for being the best wide receiver duo in the NFL. Both Hurns and Robinson topped 1,000 yards receiving in 2015, but neither was the Jaguars highest rated receiving prospect entering the 2014 NFL Draft.

That distinction belongs to fellow third year receiver Marquise Lee, who's dealt with a variety of injuries since his rookie season.

“I never worry about injuries,” said Lee. “Even when I was trying to make my way back I wasn’t worrying about it. When you think about it, you tend to get hurt.”

This was the first year that Lee was able to make it through Organized Team Activities (OTAs) without some sort of nagging injury. He suffered an ankle injury prior to his rookie season and spent most of last offseason recovering from a knee injury and a hamstring pull. Now entering his third season, Lee is finally healthy and he says the biggest reason why is a change he made to his offseason workout program.

“I ran a lot,” said Lee. “Last year I focused on lifting and this year I ran a lot. I went back to my old high school track coaches and things like that.”

Lee adds a dimension of speed to the Jaguars offense that neither Hurns nor Robinson possess. But make no mistake about it, his presence on the field will make their jobs easier.

“He’s been making plays every day and being very consistent,” said Hurns. “He’s really excited to be out there. This is the first year that he’s made it this far [with no injuries]. Everybody is very excited for Marquise Lee. It’s like night and day from when he first got here.”
