Myles Jack healthy and ready to go

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Heading into the 2016 NFL Draft both Jalen Ramsey and Myles Jack were high on the Jaguars draft board. Of all the scenarios and mock drafts that general manager Dave Caldwell and his staff put together, it’s a safe bet that they didn’t imagine walking away with both players.

Ramsey said he felt the vibe in Jacksonville on his pre-draft visit and during Friday’s introductory press conference said he feels the Jaguars are a perfect fit for him. Just a couple hours later the Jaguars added another defensive play maker in Jack. He fell to the second round after many teams were scared off by a knee injury that caused him to miss most of his junior season at UCLA.

“At the end of the day if it got me here where I wanted to go, I’m cool with it,” said Jack during Saturday’s press conference here in Jacksonville. “We’ve got Jalen Ramsey and we drafted a very good defensive end from Maryland [Yannick Ngakoue]. It’s a great fit I’m cool with everything.”

Jack knows that his knee is going to be a subject of conversation until he gets a chance to prove that he’s healthy on the field.

“I’m definitely over it,” said Jack. “Rookie minicamp is next so hopefully when you guys see me running around, playing football and having a good time maybe some of that will slip out of your mind. I’ve said my knee is fine for months and that’s pretty much where it’s at. I’m healthy and I’m good.”

Now that all of the pre-draft workouts are done Jack is ready to get back to doing what he’s done his entire life.

“I missed a whole season last year,” said Jack. “That was the first time since I was six years old that I didn’t play football in the fall. It was an empty feeling. It’s something I’ve been doing as a routine and I’m excited to play football.”
