GAINESVILLE - Florida caught fire from long range with a season-high 13 3-pointers as the Gators knocked off LSU, 79-61. In the process, Florida extended its win streak to a school-record 21 games. The Gators have now won 31 in a row at the O'Connell Center.
The Gators opened the game on an 8-0 run and never trailed as they stayed perfect in SEC play at 16-0. Dorian Finney-Smith led Florida with a team-high 16 points off the bench. Johnny O'Bryant scored 18 points for LSU in a losing effort.
Florida locked up the SEC regular season title on Thursday with Kentucky's loss to Arkansas. But the Gators opted to not cut down the nets on Saturday, despite chants from the fans. Florida has lost in the Elite 8 each of the last three seasons, so they might be saving the net-cutting for a potential national championship.
