Sam Kouvaris: You can eat at The Players, too

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – "You don't need a special ticket to have a special experience at The Players."

With that statement, Players Executive Director Matt Rapp outlined some of the things that are available for a general admission ticket at the Stadium Course during Players week.

"Some people were saying they hadn't been in a while because they didn't have access to a tent or to a club or whatever. But just getting on the grounds gives you a chance to access all kinds of new things.

For the second year, the "Trucks on Ten" will be a highlight of a culinary experience during the tournament. Tucked in between the 10th fairway, the 11th fairway, and the 15th green, three food trucks are returning with two new additions. Mama's Food, Corner Taco, Up in Smoke BBQ, Pounders Burgers and Cely's Filipino Food will be serving and the area will offer seating for fans as well.

Back again this year, "Tacos on 12" has TacoLu, Jacksonville's popular Baja Mexicana. They served over 12,000 tacos in just 5 days between the 12th green and the 13th tee. They've doubled the seating capacity in the shade to accommodate the numbers of fans who came by last year.

Off between the 11th green and the 12th tee, the "Taste of Jax" is down from five to three restaurants but has added permanent restrooms (air conditioned), video boards and a Bacardi open-air bar. The Taste of Jax will have Metro Diner, 4 Rivers Smokehouse and Brucci's Pizza serving food with the availability of the signature drink of the Players the Sawgrass Splash and the Moscow Mule back by popular demand.

Other local restaurants are in the Food court with a shaded seating area. Dietz and Watson Fresh Café, Bono's Firehouse Subs, MShack and Tropical Smoothie are all featured.

And to satisfy your sweet tooth, The Shop sells mini-Players Championship trophies made by Peterbrooke Chocolatier.

And there's golf there too!
