JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns will begin the 2014 season on Thursday April 3 by welcoming the Huntsville Stars to Bragan Field, kicking off the first of 70 home games this year. Jacksonville will host 15 games a month at home in four of the five months this season.
Fans will enjoy postgame fireworks 14 times this season, including 10 Friday nights and four special holiday shows. Once again the in-state rivalry between the Suns and Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, will heat up as the clubs will "Battle for the Golden Skillet." The Suns have won the Golden Skillet trophy the first two years of the rivalry, and Jacksonville will host the Blue Wahoos for 15 games in 2014.
The first half will end on June 15 before the Suns will break for three days, with the 2014 Southern League All-Star Game being played at Chattanooga's AT&T Field on Tuesday June 17. The Suns will host the final series of the season, facing Mobile for five games starting August 28. Game times will be the same in 2014, with most nightly Suns games beginning at 7:05 p.m. Sundays will either start at 3:05 or 6:05 p.m., with exceptions for holiday fireworks on May 25 and August 31 when the games will begin at 7:05 p.m. The club will release its full promotional schedule in March.
