JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Suns catcher J.T. Realmuto homered in his first at bat of 2013 and the Suns never trailed in their season opener beating the Jackson Generals, 5-3.
Suns starting pitcher Brian Flynn pitched six strong innings, allowing four hits while walking none and striking out nine. Flynn left the Suns with a 4-0 lead and three Suns relievers held on for the win.
Realmuto added an RBI double in the third for his second RBI. Suns second baseman Derek Dietrich added a two-run homer in the 4th.
The Suns drew 4,853 for their opener. The homestand continues through Monday at Bragan Field at the Baseball Grounds.
