"One minute he was healthy,"Coughlin said. "The next minute he is dying. It happened so fast. What we experienced watching Jay and watching the family. We didn't want the family to feel alone and the debt is tremendous. The idea started from that."

Former Jaguars Brad Meester, Tom McManus and Fred Taylor, current coach Gus Bradley, ESPN's Chris Berman and Chris Mortenson, NFL legend Doug Flutie and several current NY Giants players were among the celebrities who participated in the golf event. Coach Coughlin spent his time with every group on the iconic 17th hole.

Sunday night, over 450 celebrities and supporters attended  dinner and silent auction at the TPC Sawgrass clubhouse.

"The people have been incredibly wonderful to come back," Couglin said. "To have the chance to see old friends. A lot of the same people come back and support us every year. It's like old home week."

In all, the golf classic and banquet raised over $500,000 for the Jay Fund.
