Lauren Freeman

Anchor

Lauren FreemanLauren Freeman anchors Channel 4 News at 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. on weekday evenings.

Lauren began her time at Channel 4 anchoring the weekend newscasts and reporting on consumer issues. She came to the local station after reporting and anchoring at WFTC-TV in Minneapolis.

Before heading north to Minnesota, Lauren started her broadcasting career in her home state of Texas, where she began as a reporter in Waco and worked her way to the anchor desk.

Lauren is a Baylor Bear at heart! She is the fourth generation in her family to attend the university. While studying communications in Waco, she also began her television career as an editor at KXXV. She eventually moved on to KWTX to report, and KCEN -- also in Waco -- to anchor the morning show.

It's been said what one loves as a child, one will always love. Growing up in Childress, Texas, Lauren would often watch "20/20." It was that program that made her realize she had to get into the news business. She was mesmerized by stories about people in desperate situations. From Jessica McClure stuck in a well in West Texas to orphans in Romania, writing about moving events came naturally at a young age. Looking out at the cotton fields behind her home, Lauren would write stories about what she had seen on the news. It was then that the journalist was born!

When Lauren isn't working, one will find her running, swimming, snow skiing, painting or making jewelry. However, her favorite hobbies are laughing and shopping. Her Maltese, Marley, often makes cameo appearances on the local station.

Lauren is thrilled to be back in the South, and in a climate and community that feels like home.
