Channel 4 held a celebration Wednesday of the historic career of chief meteorologist George Winterling.

Current employees and colleagues and friends from his 47-year career delivering the weather at WJXT gathered at a garden party luncheon.

Many shared stories about Winterling and told how he had made a difference in their lives.

Winterling was not given a gold watch but a laptop computer, so he'll remain connected to the station in his new role as the local station's hurricane expert.
