3 injured after fuel truck overturns in crash on I-295, JFRD says

2nd major crash on I-295 Wednesday backs up traffic for miles

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Three people were injured Wednesday in a crash involving an overturned fuel truck, the second major crash of the day on Interstate 295, Jacksonville Fire Rescue said.

Two people were taken to Orange Park Medical Center and one to UF Health with non-serious injures, according to JFRD.

The accident involving the semi and at least five other vehicles shut down northbound I-295 near Wilson Boulevard about 1:30 p.m., backing up traffic for miles, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Northbound traffic was diverted onto 103rd Street until all lanes reopened just before 5 p.m.

The 2,800-gallon fuel truck was pumped before a crane was used to get the truck right side up, troopers said.

A three-vehicle crash on I-295 at Interstate 10 earlier Wednesday sent three people to the hospital, including two in critical condition, troopers said.

Troopers continue to investigate both crashes.
