4 hurt, 1 critical in St. Johns County crash

Crash blocks Race Track Road during rush hour

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Four people were hurt, one critically, in a crash in northern St. Johns County late Friday afternoon, according to St. Johns County Fire-Rescue.

The crash happened about 4 p.m. in the eastbound lanes in the 4100 block of Race Track Road, in front of Durbin Creek Elementary School, at Veterans Parkway.

Rescuers said a car was T-boned by another car, and two victims were trapped inside. A woman driving the car that was T-boned was flown to Orange Park Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Two children in that car were taken to Wolfson Children's Hospital in serious condition.

The driver of the other car was treated at the scene.

The eastbound lanes were closed for about an hour.

The Florida Highway Patrol and the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office are investigating the crash.
