I-95 crash snarls morning commute

Two lanes closed backs up traffic on several Southside routes

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It was a traffic nightmare Friday morning for Southside commuters on Interstate 95.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an accident on I-95 northbound at Atlantic Boulevard blocked the left and center lanes of the interstate for about three hours.

 

Major delays and congestion could be seen from 6 a.m. until 9 a.m., when lanes reopened.

 

Heavy backups were also reported on Philips Highway, Hendricks and other alternative routes as hundreds of motorists attempted to avoid I-95.
