JFRD rescue unit crashes blocks from hospital

Rescue unit carrying patient when it crashed

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A JFRD rescue unit crashed Sunday while carrying a patient in the city's Riverside neighborhood, just blocks from St. Vincent's Medical Center Riverside, officials said. 

The crash happened near the intersection of Oak and Stockton streets, officials said.

A black car crashed into the rescue unit. Police said the driver of the car didn't see the rescue unit. 

There were no injuries in the crash. The driver of the car was taken to an area hospital as a precaution. 

The patient inside the rescue unit involved in the crash was transferred to another rescue unit and taken to an area hospital.
