Crash with downed power line blocked Atlantic Boulevard

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Drivers in St. Nicholas may need to find an alternate route early Friday morning after a crash on Atlantic Boulevard.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, a crash with injuries blocked the eastbound and westbound lanes of Atlantic Boulevard at Art Museum Drive. The crash is near Beach Road Chicken Dinners.

JSO reports the crash involves a downed power line.

Police are diverting all westbound traffic from Atlantic Boulevard onto Art Museum Drive south. All traffic that goes south will be able to get onto Beach Boulevard and head west without any issues.

Eastbound officers are at 3952 Atlantic Boulevard diverting traffic back west and they can use Mayfair Road or Linden Avenue to get back south.

Crews worked to reinstall the pole and reattach the power lines. A handful of commercial customers experienced a power outage during repairs, according to JEA.

If parents need to take their children to Episcopal High School, use the entrance to the school at 4500 Atlantic Boulevard.

Cones were picked up and lanes reopened just after 7:15 a.m.
