Deputies urge caution on roads during marathon

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The 26.2 with Donna marathon is returning to the beaches in just over a week, and the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office reminded Ponte Vedra Beach residents and those traveling in the area on Feb. 14 to expect traffic congestion and delays.

The National Marathon to Finish Breast Cancer will begin at 7:30 a.m.

The majority of traffic delays from the race are expected to be between 7:15 a.m.-9 a.m., when State Road A1A will be closed between County Road 210 and Corona Road.

Traffic will be diverted to Roscoe Boulevard, enabling most motorists to bypass the event, deputies said.

Commuters can also expect congestion and traffic delays following the event as shuttles will be traveling southbound on A1A, returning participants to the TPC parking lot.
