Man killed, woman injured in motorcycle crash on I-95

Crash blocks lanes south of International Golf Parkway Monday afternoon

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A man was killed and woman injured Monday afternoon when a motorcycle hit a guardrail on Interstate 95 about 2 miles south of International Golf Parkway in St. Johns County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the FHP report, Michael Lyons, of Ferndale, Florida, was heading south about 3:25 p.m. when he lost control of his 1998 Honda motorcycle, crossed all southbound lanes and struck the metal guardrail. He died at the scene.

Lyons' passenger, Stephanie Jackson, of Homosassa, Florida, was airlifted to Orange Park Medical Center, where she was treated for minor injuries and released.

All southbound lanes were blocked for about an hour while the accident was investigated and cleared.
