Motorcyclist critically injured in Westside crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 37-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash on the Westside on Monday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

State troopers said Troy Durbin was riding westbound on Normandy Boulevard, west of Combs Road, about 6:30 p.m., and the driver of a car traveling southbound across Normandy from the parking lot of a Winn-Dixie failed to see him and drove into his path.

Durbin tried to take evasive action, causing him to lose control of the motorcycle, troopers said. The bike overturned onto its right side and slid into the left side of the car.

Durbin was taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Kimberly Glover, 20, the driver of the car, was not hurt.

Troopers said charges are pending.
