ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol investigators have ruled alcohol to be a factor in a crash, sending a St. Augustine Beach police officer to the hospital. The crash happened late Wednesday night.
Detectives said 51-year-old Alison Byers was traveling west on Pope Road when she failed to stop for a police cruiser, resulting in a rear end collision. The cruiser was stopped in the center turn area.

Officer Erin Winters was taken to Flagler Hospital with minor injuries.
Byers was arrested for DUI resulting in person injury and property damage to another.
