MIAMI -

Authorities say a woman was found dead inside a house in Highlands County that was destroyed as Tropical Storm Debby inundated some areas with rain.

Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Nell Hays says a child was also found Sunday in the same house in Venus. The child is being treated at the hospital. No further information has been released.

Authorities have also opened an evacuation shelter for residents. A tornado was reported earlier in Venus and another tornado was reported Saturday in southwest Florida.

Parts of Florida, including the Panhandle, remain under a tropical storm warning as Debby churns off the Gulf Coast. The storm has already dumped heavy rain across the state. High winds forced officials to close the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in the Tampa area.
