Stormy Tuesday Afternoon

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is currently in effect for Duval County until 7:00pm, the thunderstorm is nearly stationary, with little forward movement, which results in heavy rainfall totals. The storm is capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging wind gusts in excess of 60mph. 

An areal flood warning has also been issued for Duval Count until 9:45pm due to reports of over 3 inches of rain falling in around an hour. Significant street flooding has been reported between Golfair and 95 and Golfair and Leigh Streets.

The first round of storms swept through just after the noon hour, with breaks in the rain until the later afternoon hours. 

The Weather Authority's John Gaughan tracked the storms all afternoon long, moving in from along I-75, prompting several Severe Thunderstorm Warning to be issued, intially closer to Ocala, but eventually as far North as Duval County. 

Pea siza hail was reported in Marion County, and peas size hail was reported via StormPins on the Northside of Jacksonville.  Flooding was also reported on Norwood Avenue.

Several uprooted small trees near I-10 in Baker county were also reported. 

The storms will lose intensity after sunset, but lighter rain may linger in our Southern areas until midnight.
