Dense Fog advisory extended to 11 am

Thick morning fog

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for most of the area. Fog has increased across north Florida and many spots have a quarter mile or less visibility. The fog is especially bad this morning with much of it covering inland areas.

Thick fog has spread in from the Gulf of Mexico. This advection fog happens when warm air flows over cold water like what we have near Cedar Key. Light onshore winds moves the fog ashore flowing into Jacksonville.
