Dress warm for toy giveaway

Children's Christmas Party of Jacksonville

Enough toys you don't need to wait in line Saturday, but bundle up it will be cold.

It time for another Children’s Christmas Party of Jacksonville this Saturday but bundle up it will be the coldest afternoon since February.

For 18 years the community has come together to fulfill the Christmas dreams of thousands of children in Northeast Florida. Toys donated by sponsors and concerned citizens will be handed out to more than 8000 children at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center.

In the past this event draws long lines as families wait for free gifts. This year morning temperatures will make for an uncomfortable wait as temperatures will dip to 36 outside the convention center. By 10 am temperatures will be in the upper 40s.

Wind chills will feel like freezing with a northeast wind 10-15 mph so kids will certainly need layers for protection.

The event is from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m on Saturday December 10th.
