Region wakes to freezing temperatures, record lows

Inland Hard Freeze Warning, coastal Freeze Warning ended at 9 a.m.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Thursday's morning low broke records across northeast Florida and southeast Georgia, and News4Jax chief meteorologist John Gaughan said it might have been the coldest ever so late in the year.

"Contrast that with the warmest overall winter since the 1940s," Gaughan said. "Because of our warm winter, the current March cold streak made the last six afternoons highs the coldest six straight days this entire winter."
