JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Areas of dense fog move in tonight from the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Visibility will be reduced down to a quarter of a mile to half of a mile at times during the overnight and early morning hours.
We are especially fog prone with warm afternoons and cool nights- when temperatures warm, high levels of moisture are able to be absorbed in the air. When temperatures cool, the potential moisture content level of the air is much lower. Fog forms when the temperature drops within a few degrees of the dew point,, much of the moisture that is in the air condenses out, in the form of a cloud, at the ground level. Calm winds also contribute to fog prone conditions as well.

A Dense Fog Advisory will most likely be issued for the entire area. The fog will lift by 10:00 am for most areas, with the exception of coastal areas where fog will be more persistent, even into the afternoon hours.
After the fog mixes out, expect partly sunny skies and warm temperatures- topping out in the upper 70s and low 80s. No significant chances for rain Monday and light winds out of the southeast are expected, between 5 and 10 mph.
Foggy conditions are anticipated overnight Monday and into Tuesday as well.
