Warm Sunday Afternoon

Afternoon highs will reach the upper 70s

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After starting nice and cool in the low 50s this morning we saw an impressive warm-up during the early morning hours, reaching the low 70s by the noon hour.

Afternoon highs will top out anywhere from the mid-70s to the upper 70s to the west of I-95. Coastal highs to the east of I-95 will range from the mid-70s to the low 70s, and right along the beaches may top out as cool as the upper 60s due to the south easterly direction of coastal winds.

The general flow of wind today will be from the south, pretty light around 10 mph. Coastal winds will be a tad stronger at 10 to 15 mph out of the southeast by the afternoon hours as temperatures heat up- resulting in 3 to 5 foot waves with an occasional six-foot set.

Skies will start out mostly clear but gradually make their way to partly cloudy throughout the day as southerly winds bring a little bit more moisture to our atmosphere during the afternoon hours.

There is little chance for showers today- about a 10% shot for showers exists closer to Waycross and Valdosta during the evening hours, but it is not expected to produce any rain.

Around sunset temperatures will start to slowly drop under partly cloudy skies through the 60s and will wake up in the mid upper 50s early Monday morning.

Monday will start out much like Sunday did with mostly clear skies and a nice warm up- putting us in the low 70s by your noon hour. After the noon hour, building clouds and increasing chances for showers will curtail any heating during the afternoon hours and you should top out in the mid to low 70s.

Monday evening's chance for showers builds as we make our way to the rest of the workweek. A much wetter weather pattern is setting up resulting in multiple days with high chances for showers by the mid week.
