JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville's popular World of Nations Celebration is back! No need for a passport to enjoy the variety of food, art, and traditions from locations all around the globe at this year's celebration at Metropolitan Park this weekend. The forecast for the World of Nations Celebration looks great, but a little on the cool side, especially since we were so spoiled with a warm winter.

For the Friday night celebration the temperatures will drop down from the mid 60s into the mid 50s under beautiful clear skies for the Rock the Globe cultural performances and concert. The winds will be out of the Northeast between 5 and 10 mph making for jacket weather under the starry skies. According to the City of Jacksonville's press release, Friday night's event is a Global Dance Party presented by iHeart Radio. The evening will feature a performance by GRAMMY Award-winning artist Shaggy. Additional performers include Skinny Fabulous, The Katz Downstairs, De Lions of Jah, Special Formula Band, DJ Kulanji, and Ponder the Albatross. The Rock the Globe concert is open to adults 21 years-of-age and older only. Tickets, which can be purchased at RockTheGlobeJax.com, are $10 in advance and $15 at the gate.
On Saturday the World of Nations Celebration kicks off at 10:00 am with temperatures in the low 60s, Northeasterly winds between 12-17 mph and 40% sky cover, making for partly cloudy skies. The City of Jacksonville released this concerning the weekend celebration; he event will be open to the public (all ages) on Saturday, Mar. 4, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 5, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. During this time, patrons will be able to experience the sights, sounds, tastes and traditions of 30 countries. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the World of Nations Celebration, there will be a fireworks show on Saturday, Mar. 4 at 6:45 p.m. Admission is $5 and tickets can be purchased online at JaxWorldofNations.com.
Countries participating in the World of Nations Celebration include: the Bahamas, Cambodia, China, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, First Nations (Native North America), Ghana, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, Palestine, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Spain, St. Lucia, Syria, Taiwan, Trinidad & Tobago, Turkey, U.S.A., Venezuela, and Vietnam.
By noon, the temperatures are up to 66° and the winds are out of the East between 12-17 mph. There are less than 10% chances for showers all day.
From 3-5:00 p.m. temperatures top out in the upper 60s for the afternoon highs and winds shift slightly, to be out of the East between 10 and 15 mph. After 5:00 p.m. the temperatures turn cooler and drop through the 60s, down to 61° by the end of Saturday's festivities at 7:00p.m.
The multi-cultural experience cranks back up Sunday morning at 10:00a.m. with temperatures climbing out of the 50s and into the low 60s at that point. Expect a slight increase in cloud cover, making for partly sunny skies. Temperatures will be warmer on Sunday, climbing into the mid 70s by the afternoon hours.
