Apple green lights electric car project

Vehicles could be available by 2019

NEW YORK – Apple is giving the green light to its production of an electric car. The Wall Street Journal reports the vehicle will be available in 2019.

Nasdaq.com reports that more information about the project should be coming out soon including when the tech giant will be testing the vehicles on roads.

Apple has been hiring managers from automobile companies as of late. Autonews.com reported the hire of a senior engineer from Tesla Motors Inc. last month.

Fox News reports that although Apple has talked about using a self-driving car testing facility, the company's first car will likely not be driverless.

Apple will be hiring more people to add to its car project's team of 600 people, according to Fox News.
