Vigil held for teen killed in hit-and-run
D'Quan Armstrong, 14, killed while riding bike
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Family and friends gathered in North Jacksonville Sunday to remember a teen who was killed by a hit-and-run driver last Saturday.
D'Quan Armstrong, 14, was riding his bike when he was hit on Sibbald Road.
Police said the driver who hit him never stopped, but they were quickly able to track him down. They said the the man they tracked down has been questioned, but hasn't been charged with the crime.
The vigil was held at the same spot where Armstrong was killed. Friends and family tearfully held candles as 14 balloons were released into the afternoon rain.
Nyschica Armstrong, D'Quan's aunt, described him as an honor roll student who had just started his freshman year at Wolfson High School.
"My nephew was full of life, sweet child, this would have been his freshman year," said Nyschica.
Armstrong's aunt said she wants the driver brought to justice. She said faith will help his family and friends heal.
