An 11-year-old California boy born with a rare orthopedic condition is getting his wish -- to have his right leg amputated.
His mother, Zimra Vigoda of Sacramento, told ABC News it is the hardest decision she's ever made.

But also a necessary one.
Amit was born with something called congenital pseudoarthrosis of tibia and fibula with osteofibrous dysplasia, which caused his right leg to constantly fracture.
"I awake to a familiar screech. ?Mommmmmyyyy??HELP!'" Vigoda wrote on the blog, Kveller.com. "'Mommmmmyyyy??I want to cut it off, I can't stand it anymore?I hate my leg?.make it stop,' he hollers, eyes wide open yet not quite awake."
Growing up, he had never been allowed to jump or play any contact sports for fear of breaking his leg.
On April 10, Amit will undergo a below-the-knee amputation at Shriner's Hospital for Children in Sacramento.
Six weeks later, doctors will fit him with a prosthetic. Three months later, he's expected to be up and running -- and jumping and kicking and playing.
